Frequently Asked Questions
Dresscode and wedding colors
We would love for you to come in festive attire i.e. the ladies in cocktail and/or long dresses and the gentlemen in suits. If you would like to change your outfit between the afternoon cocktail and the evening dinner, please feel free to do so. However, this is not a must or expected. The kids should be comfortable in their clothes. We have no specific wedding colors. Please do consider the weather when choosing your outfit, as we will be outdoors/in semi-open spaces most of the day.
Access to Chenonceau castle and garden
Break between cocktail and dinner receptions
You will have access to Chenonceau castle and gardens all day Saturday - in case you would like to visit in the morning or before dinner. Please use the main entrance and ask for our wedding/guest list.
The castle is open to tourists all day Saturday, it closes at 19:00 and the gardens close at 19:30. From that point on, we will have exclusive access to the gardens which will be illuminated for us.

After the cocktail reception in Les Plumassières, there will be a break of about two and a half hours for you to return to Chenonceau resp. your accomodation or to visit the castle/gardens, if you like. You have access to both all day Saturday. Please use the main entrance and ask for our wedding/guest list to enter.
We will have aperitif drinks before dinner in the Diane de Poitiers garden, in front of the Orangerie, starting at 19:30 in the evening.
Car/Parking/Shuttle Service
You will need a car to get to the different weekend/wedding sites, there is no public transportation. Please plan with about a one hour drive from your hotel in/around Chenonceaux to the new church at Les Ormes (see new address above). After the ceremony, you have a 10-minute drive to the cocktail reception at Les Plumassières and then an hour back to Chenonceaux for the dinner/party.
Please let us know if you would like us to connect you with other guests to car-pool for these drives.
Parking should not be an issue at any of the locations. At Chenonceau castle, please use the castle parking. You can leave your car there all night.
After the dinner/party, there will be a shuttle service from Chenonceau castle to the hotels nearby.

Dietary requirements
If you have any specific dietary requirements, please send us Whatsapp message.
Gift registry
Having you attend our wedding is the greatest gift of all, especially if you have travelled to France for this occasion. However, if you wish to give a wedding gift, we've registered with "Zank you" for items that we need to outfit our home resp. replace what the kids have broken. Please find the link to the website at the bottom of this page.
Childcare
We will have quite a few young children with us and have organized a couple of (French speaking) babysitters to help the parents look after them on Saturday.
Children will have ample space to play and run in front of the church and at Les Plumassières. In Chenonceau, they can play on the lawn in front of the Orangerie (despite the signs saying otherwise). However, please keep an eye out that they do not pull out flowers etc in any of the gardens.
There will also be an extra room for the children to play in and later hopefully sleep in. If you have a baby bed/mattress etc for your child, please do bring it.
For dinner, we will have separate children's tables in a room adjacent to the Orangerie. Our babysitters will help with eating/feeding. We have a children's menu with chicken, mashed potatoes and vegetables as well as dessert. If your child needs any special or additional food, please bring that as well.
Places to visit during your stay
The wedding is taking place in the heart of the Loire valley, a UNESCO world heritage site. With its magnificent castles, towns, landscapes and gastronomy, the region offers a perfect blend of history and "art de vivre".

The Loire valley was once of immense strategic importance as it was situated on the crucial frontier between northern and southern France. Kings, queens and nobles came here to establish feudal fortresses and, later on, sumptuous pleasure palaces – that's why you will find hundreds of France's most beautiful aristocratic estates here. Among our favorites are the Chateau de Chenonceau, the Chateau de Chambord and Leonardo da Vinci's last residence, the Clos Lucé, in Amboise. If you are interested in garden architecture, we also recommend a visit to the castles Chaumont and Villandry with their beautiful parcs.

Tours, Blois, Angers and Orléans are some of the most significant cities in the region. Art and history enthusiasts should check out the various monuments and museums. For a taste of regional specialties, take a walk through the old towns with their lively squares, shops and restaurants.

Finally, for those of you who come with children, you may enjoy a trip to the Mini Chateau Parc, a two hectare park with 41 miniature models of the most beautiful Loire castles or the Zoo Parc de Beauval, one of the largest zoos in the world.
